UFOs exist and the scholars who gathered discussed them at the ‘World Symposium on Unidentified Flying Objects and Related Phenomena’, the results of which were released to the press today, 24 October, at the Cavour Congress Centre in Rome. The congress is now in its 31st consecutive year, and the two-day event on UFOs took place on 21 and 22 October in San Marino under the coordination of aerospace journalist Roberto Pinotti, president of the CUN, the Italian National Ufological Centre active since 1967, and of ICER, the International Coalition for Extraterrestrial Research, which was established in 2021 and brings together experts from over 30 countries.
The Symposium was attended by delegates from the USA, UK, Portugal, Germany, Italy and Sri Lanka, who explored the topic from a technical-legal as well as military and political perspective, without neglecting the psycho-sociological aspects. The common goal of all of them is to ‘address the issue at the international level and in the institutional forum, also promoting a different approach by the media’. The ultimate goal is to obtain the aegis of the United Nations.
Roberto Pinotti explains: “The news is that after 31 years the symposium could turn into a UN event that sheds light on UFOs, specifying that for decades the initiative has united experts from thirty countries with the aim of acting towards institutions and the media”. The UFO phenomenon, according to Pinotti, has its own history and sees Italy at the forefront.
In fact, the report released by the Pentagon in June last year, in which American intelligence spoke of more than 140 ‘unidentified flying objects’, lends support to their thesis. In reality, the report did not offer any definitive conclusions. However, at the same time, it did not rule out alien activity, effectively leaving the door open to new extraterrestrial theories.
Even the Pentagon’s decision to reconstitute, in August 2020, the division dedicated to the study of unidentified flying objects leads to the hypothesis that the American Defence does not rule out the danger of a possible new strategic and technological threat to be investigated. A point of view that thus partly coincides with that of the symposium’s ufologists. ‘Now that the existence of UFOs has been cleared through customs,’ Pinotti went on to explain, ‘it has been realised that we have to put ourselves on the same level as this superior intelligence, in order to take cover’.
While Vladimiro Bibolotti, Icer’s Italian contact person, continued: “I do not believe in UFOs, I believe in the documentation on the subject, for example the hypersonic speed and low observability that characterises these unidentified objects. There are photos, footage and documents that testify to the presence of flying objects in the sky from as early as the first half of the 20th century, up to the more than 300 sightings reported by NASA at the beginning of the millennium’.
The UFO as it is investigated today is therefore no longer a harmless unidentified object but, on the contrary, a phenomenon that is intertwined with topical issues such as the militarisation of space and the future of human society. For this reason, CUN and Icer scholars are not giving up calling for a UN aegis. One who already firmly supports the initiative is the Republic of San Marino, which not only hosts the initiative but is also considering supporting the ufologists’ request to the United Nations.
The Republic of San Marino’s Secretary of State for Tourism, Federico Pedini Amati, told AGI: “The Republic of San Marino is proud to host the Ufology Symposium. It is an event that brings many people to the country and catalyses attention from the world’s media. A symposium that is organised by Roberto Pinotti in a serious and consistent manner, despite the fact that it deals with topics that have always been controversial.
With a local legislative instrument of popular initiative, the so-called ‘Istanza di Arengo’, the scholars have in fact requested the Titan to activate its delegation at the Glass Palace in New York. The request has already passed the scrutiny of the two Captains Regent of the small Republic and now awaits the green light from the Grand and General Council, i.e. the San Marino Parliament
Vladimiro Bibolotti, Icer’s Italian contact person, explains: “We had sightings in the 1930s, Fascism called them ‘unconventional vehicles’ and there are authentic documents and telegrams in our archives, at the time there was even a commission of enquiry led by Guglielmo Marconi. The most clamorous case is the one that happened in August ’63, when a UFO flew over Segni’s presidential car, as also testified by Pentagon documents that were desecreted’ and shown during the press conference.
Bibolotti continues: ‘The conflicts of the last 30 years prove that the technological and intelligent objects sighted were not built by any nation on earth, because they were not used in any war in this world. The Pentagon spokeswoman announced the desecration of several documents on 31 October. We expect confirmation of what we have been saying for some time, that UFOs do exist. Cun has 13,000 cases observed in Italy, which we have investigated and which cannot be explained. The real question now is to understand what is inside these objects, but now we don’t have enough scientific evidence to say so, those who venture theories are casting ridicule on ufology, which, instead, is a serious reserch’. According to the organisers, ‘a number of things that ufology scholars have been saying for a long time are being uncovered’.
